We need a greener future, and one of the most important things to consider is how you and your work place develop greener credentials. Everyone can play their part and even the smallest changes will make a huge difference in the bigger picture.
Why green credentials are important for us
At Relative, we care about our future. We are improving our green footprint every day in different ways and regularly having meetings about how to be more environmentally friendly.
During the pandemic, we learned that our meetings, either internally within our business or with our clients, don’t have to be face-to-face. We all learned to integrate technology as a regular part of our working lives in ways many companies hadn’t experienced or considered before the pandemic
How we are doing our bit to stay green and the benefits
Even now, we continue to have meetings over Teams and Zoom, so that we don’t have to take a car or public transport to get together. It will also, in most situations, limit the meeting time because you will stick to the agenda, and won’t have to spend time travelling that could be spent on your next task. This will result in a more efficient working day, where our clients will have more time to work on their business, and we will have more time to work on their business too.
Unfortunately, the team all live in different locations around Greater Manchester, which results in carpooling not being an option. Therefore, we are working from home two or three days per week instead to reduce CO2 emissions from our journey to work with cars and public transport.
It is also very important for us to always turn off the computers at the end of the day and ensure that we are not using the lights more than we must. Our heating is also on a pre-set system, so that it only comes on when the temperature drops below a certain point, and it turns itself off when the temperature rises. Even small changes such as recycling, reducing water waste, using recycled paper and print ink, and switching to efficient light bulbs can have a big impact on the environment.
We also ensure that we partner with suppliers that feel as strongly about sustainability as we do. The print supplier that we have worked with for over a decade have 466 solar panels and all lighting is LED, reducing their electricity and carbon footprint. They drive electric vehicles, use as much recycled stock as possible, and all inks are vegetable based.
Everyone can do their bit and even the smallest changes will make a huge difference in the long run. So join us on our journey of being a more sustainable marketing agency!
